WELL I'LL BE BOZZY-MA-COOED AT LONG LAST IT'S...

RE-RELEASED ON DVD AND VHS
When I first began this site back in mid 1999 I never believed that I would have the time, or know how, to enable it to blossom from the meager episode list it was to the veritable feast you know and love today. Back then I had just got my first complete set of Worzel's, and, incidentally, my first computer. The computer was the easiest to acquire. Now, call me what you want, but to get hold of the Worzel's I took out a subscription with 'OnDigital' as they were the only digi-providers who offered Carlton Kids a channel who were showing Worzel daily, WOW!, from nothing to a full set in three weeks. However it was not perfect. They were broadcast with very dull sound and, due to the limitations of the digi-box, for those who don't know the signal was provided by an ordinary TV aerial!!, the picture was prone to breaking up. Back then I would have killed to get a full set on original release, let alone on the soon to come DVD format. You however no longer need to dream as the far sighted people from 'Delta Music' have just released not only Series' 3 & 4, but also something which no-one could get hold of, the Xmas special 'A Cup O' Tea An' A Slice O' Cake' WOW! Series 1 & 2 will be released early next year. What follows is my review of these initial releases and if you wish to purchase any them, and judging by the amount of you who mail me every week about product that's a lot, you should follow the 'Amazon' link below and type Worzel Gummidge into the search box
The first thing that struck me when I saw the new releases was their covers. In the past we have all had to make do with 'any old picture of Worzel' on the cover, all of Delta's releases have pictures which relate directly to their content, all of the episodes are in the right order and, incredibly all have the original t/x dates and their position within the canon laid out correctly and coherently. Excellent! Another bonus is that some of the pictures I have never seen before.
I watched the Xmas special first closely followed by the entire Series 3&4 in chronological order. I was very impressed with the clean, crisp quality of both sound and picture, there are many lines and sounds I have never heard before which were a surprise, although I admit that I watched all the releases on DVD I recall with discomfort the almost mute releases by 'ILC' a year or two back, releases which also presented the episodes in any old order and far from complete. Anyway, back to the plot... I have to admit that I could not find fault with any of the new releases which I have viewed, all currently available incidentally, there is a lot to recommend them, the covers, the quality and also the opportunity to get hold of such a unique piece of Cult UK TV history, if you wish to read any more detailed episode synopses follow the links below.
The presentation will please both adults
and children alike and, to my knowledge this is the first time that any or all
of Series 3, in my opinion the strongest, has been released. ILC released
scatterings of Series 4 bundles with bits of Series 2 as I said earlier but this
is the first time that anyone has had the courage and vision to release these
gems with any regard or knowledge of them. I will close by saying here's to you
Delta, at long last Worzel product has come of age and is back where it belongs
in the public domain and jsut in time to make the Christmas of every fan young
or old just that bit more special 'Merry Christmas' to you all
a cup o’ tea an’ a slice o’ cake
